1. Do not press the bumps or pops or acne spots, this will lead to spreading of the infection around the spot. If you do press and split a spot make sure you wash it clean with cotton dipped in alcohol, this will prevent the infection from spreading on other areas. The best thing to do is put a mixture of honey and ground cinnamon on the spot that you have popped. On a long term basis you could rub the acne with garlic cloves several times a day instead of popping them.
2. Always wash the makeup off once you are done with it. Heavy make up clogs pores, causing dirt accumulation and leading to pimples.
3. Exfoliation is a boon to get rid of acne. Using a mild/gentle scrub with natural defoliants like ground walnut shells + cocoa butter. Do not over exfoliate.
4. Use anti-bacterial agents like alcohol, peroxide and benzalkonium chloride, creams that contain benzoyl peroxide (dry skin people should consult a dermatologist) which kill bacteria as well as cause the skin to regenerate faster.
5. Maintain a routine. Most acne treatments take time to work. It usually takes between two and eight weeks before you see any significant improvement, so you are going to have to be patient. Once you’ve gotten your acne cleared up, it’s important to continue with the treatment that’s working so it does not return.
6. Follow the K.I.S.S rule, keep ur skin clean by washing it regularly with water and mild soap. Do not stress yourself and sleep well.
7. Plenty of water helps you fight acne, yes thats a fact. As water acts as cleanser (internally) washing off unwanted stuff by way of urine. You can say that its a natural filter.
8. Consult a dermatologist if you are really concerned or none of the tips mentioned above help you.
9. One really strange way of getting rid of acne is applying shaving cream on it at night. It dries up the acne and then remove it in the morning (wash it off). (Though it works, please test your skin for allergy of any kind from shaving creams).
